Kit trivia . . . my new old dollhouse (more about that later) that I just picked up at a flea market a couple of weeks ago makes its first appearance in this kit (pre-remodel). Two of the bodies in this kit come from my own family (one of my mom who I miss so dearly) and it makes me happy to see them here.

Dollhouse
I have something new I'm working on! Well, new in a tangible sense. I have been fascinated and enthralled with dollhouses and miniature everything for many years. Actually, I've been fascinated with large things too. Just ask my family about all of the "World's Largest" and "World's Smallest" things I've dragged them to see. But a dollhouse in particular is somewhere I can utilize that intoxicating suspension of disbelief and nearly find myself in an out of body experience. I'm sure psychologically this all has something to do with my deep rooted struggles to control my environment, but we won't focus on that.
I started building my own dollhouse from scratch last spring but after a lot of gusto to get it started, it gathered dust on shelves before I could get myself to actually put all of the pieces together and see if it would collapse or stay in one piece. A couple of weeks ago, I just happened to run across an already built dollhouse at a flea market. The price was right and the dream to have a dollhouse was revived.
Now, this new little big dollhouse of mine needs lots of work. And yes, I did mean to say little big as this may be a dollhouse but it's huge. I think it was built with great care at one point, but then "remodeled" by a young child with some rather interesting painting methods and things taped here and there and parts removed and parts smashed and then probably left outside in the weather a little more than it should have been. We gutted the whole thing a couple of weeks ago and last weekend cut new wood for the foundation and some other places that needed repair. Now it is awaiting it's new paint job inside and out. Doors have to be fitted as the old ones were either missing or broken. New "glass" needs to be put in all of the windows. New trim needs to be fitted around the bay windows and along the roof line. Everything needs to be sanded down and repainted.

I love doll's houses too I had one my grandfather built .. I wish I still had it.
I think it was given to a cousin.. when I lost interest..
there is something about tiny house .. is it the looking through the tiny windows to another life .. I don't know but once you have the bug it's hard to get rid of it

Can't wait to see what you will do with your dollhouse, Marsha! I built a dollhouse from only things I found around my house and blogged about it about 1 1/2 years ago. It was so, so much fun and I even built a garden out front for it!! It is such a fun process and I hope you will enjoy every minute of it, like I did!!
Your new sheet is super cute and it makes me happy to know that you included a picture of your mother (I miss mine too.)
