In Memory of Suzee Que

I discovered sad news tonight that will touch many of you. Flickr's Suzee Que passed away suddenly April 13th. She has inspired many of us with her photostream full of gorgeous images "free to use" in our own artwork. I am so thankful that I had the wits to thank her in person and let her know how much I appreciated the treasures she left. This, believe me, is quite a miracle because I am not usually thoughtful enough to do such things, though I wish I was. I sent her a group of prints once using her images as a small gesture to try and repay her for her immense generosity. The piece below, which is still the only original piece I've kept of my own work, uses two of her images as the centerpiece and remains my all time favorite. Without her images, I actually might not have found myself where I've landed, because it was with this "ahah" piece that I knew the direction I wanted to take my work. I can say with all sincerity, that Suzee Que touched my life and my artistic journey and I will forever be grateful.

Wow, Marsha. I was shocked to see this post. How sad that she has passed. I too have used her images over and over again. She was such a sweet flickr friend who helped so many of us collage artists find the exact image we needed. She will be missed very much. I will keep her family in my thoughts as they go through this tragic time.

This is sad news. I just found out today by accident on Flickr. I'm sad to say, I never talked to her, but I always thought of her when searching for images. She had great stuff, and I have used and downloaded many of them.

Thanks for this lovely tribute to Suzee, and I love the art you put up. If I were you I'd keep that piece forever and ever. :)

Marsha! I posted the SAME post early this morning!! What a huge coincidence. Spooky. As I said in my post, I had offered to do the same thing, but she refused and so I never had the benefit of rec'ing her address and couldn't.
I am weirded out a bit by this and wondered at first if you'd seen my post and that's how you learned of her death until I saw your post was Apr 29. She was only 50. Way too young, and I assumed quite sudden as well as she was posting quite regularly.

What sad news. I've used Suzee's images as well. She was so generous with her images. She spent a lot of time putting them into Flickr for all of us to use. She will be missed.

Suzee Que's Flickr has always been awesome to me! The quantity of her images & the gerousity of her spirit has always delighted & amazed me. I am so saddened to hear of this & will head over to flickr & re-look at some of her images as a fond remembrance of someone I've never met or spoken to, but who has enriched my life & my art with her joy!

I'm sorry for the loss to her family - the cyber one too that you were obviously a part of. She came into my frame of consciousness only recently - she was obviously very giving and creative.

Well thank you, Suzee Que, for your lovely images. I didn't know you personally, but wanted to credit you for a couple of vintage pictures I used in photomontages.I did an internet search for your flickr name - and found out the sad news.

By all accounts , you were a wonderful person.

In the end- time past present and future are all one.

Today would have been my mom's 61st birthday and I go to her Flikr page often and always find new things. Thank you so very much for your tribute to her. She loved art and was a very generous person, in real life, too. She had an amazing collection of ATCs that I display and art in many, many other mediums as well. 💓
