Few things done . . .

One should probably not post when they are half asleep but I am just off to bed and wanted to post a couple of things before I turn in . . .

Got an original piece done tonight. I made this especially for one of my most loyal customers that I think owns either the original or print of everything I've ever had in Etsy. She is my benefactor of sorts and has supported me through thick and thin. This is for Brenda, a very dear lady to me.

Some new sheets in my Etsy! These are from a series of collage sheets I'm doing called East is West . . . there are still more coming for this series.

Oooo-la-la! I just went to your Etsy store. I see a purchase in my future! I am going to be a PNG girl.
They are magical!

Since I am new to these digital crafty things I am going to be real stupid and ask.....
I see this acronym mentioned all the time out there in the blog world... Soooo what does ATC stand for? And why are they a certain size?

Hi miss fabulous Painting Queen! I may try to email you . . .

ATC is short for Artist Trading Card and they are of a certain size, coincidentally the same as a baseball or other trading card - 2.5" x 3.5". They were started by an artist in Switzerland with the thinking that he wanted more people to be able to own an original piece of art. So people make them and trade with other artists and collect them like one would collect sports cards.

There are hundreds of sites, magazines, trading groups, flickr groups, and more dedicated to this tiny little art format. Also popular are inchies (1" pieces of art), twinchies (2"), skinny (typically 4" x 8" or 3" x 5") and a host of other sizes. All kind of influenced by the mail art phenomenon. ACEO's are the same size but called Art Cards Editions and Originals - fancy for "ATC's for sale". Originally, ATC's were not supposed to be sold - a kind of highly regarded and accepted stance and unwritten rule, but ACEO's came along so that people could feel they could sell the tiny works without offending anyone.

ATC's are how I got back into making art after a very long hiatus. I owe it all to the ATC!
