My husband doesn't like my blog . . .

He doesn't like the black background. I do. Black is my favorite color. I was feeling blah with white but I listen to and respect my man, too. What do you think? Black or white background? How often do you get to call something black or white, no gray? I'll tally the votes (from all 5 of you that visit!)

Well, neither??? With the vibrant colors of your artwork, is there a bright color that would blend with them all? If not I'd say black since it makes the vibrant colors stand out.

Okay, wait, keep in mind, if you haven't visited for a day or two, I have since rescanned all of the artwork (ALL of it, even in the posts) since I figured out why everything was looking so dull compared to the original. I reconfigured the output on the scanner. So, it was already better, even on the white background, than yesterday morning.

Welllllllllll, I do like how your vibrant art pops off the black......but.....(if you're like me you don't like buts), I think I find reading white text on black backgrounds a little eye bothersome...I think I liked the white better with black text or like grey or something lighter as a background. BUT, and here's a nice big but, nothing says you can't live with it a while. I change my blog colours etc around all the time.
I thought of a sort of half way thing you could also experiment with. If you're really liking the black behind the art pieces maybe you could have a white background but frame your pieces in black, like a mat. Not in real life, though I suppose you could stick a deep black paper behind your art pieces when you scan them, but you could put a black border around them in photo shop or something. Then you could have black AND white.
On my blog I do a similar thing but I actually put a drop shadow behind my photos, cause I like the way it makes them pop. Okie, enough blathering, you're probably tired of my buts and incessant rambling. Though one time I was walking down this old farm road and a cow was in the field and I noticed that all that stood between me and it was a thin wire. So I touched it to see how strong it was, and it was electric, shocking huh? anyways if I'm going to accuse myself of rambling I thought I ought to live up to the accusation. ta ta for now. :)

Electrifying you are!

I sort of agree with Tace. Reverse (white on black) copy is hard to read if there is copious amounts of text...BUT...black does make the art pop. Actually I sorta wish that I would've make a Typepad blog because I like the look of those so much better than blogger. An example of my absolutely FAV blog (right now) is http://joli-paquet.blogspot.com

I love the way the vivid colors in your artwork pop with the black background. I also find it easier to read dark letters on light background rather than vice versa. Not much help, am I? Maybe choose which is more important to highlight at the moment... your art or your words....
