I'm not sure I'll do that again . . .

Ho Hum Fairies . . .

copyright by Marsha Jorgensen
5 x 7 collage using vintage black and white photos reprinted, carefully trimmed and hand-colored and arranged with my own personally created striped trim, wings licensed by Butterfly Utopia, flowers and circles from Anahata Katkin's Spare Parts, and vases from an old illustration book on a watercolored background.

I'm a nervous wreck! I don't know how you journalers do it! I had several pieces of this cut out all day then I'd leave it all while, not sure what to put in the blank space - composition hanging me up all day. Then I thought (for some odd reason) I would add words like journalers do. I haven't kept an art journal since college so this was a gigantic step. I still have a rolly polly tummy from adding words to this piece. I don't have the stomach to lay something out and then mess it up in the word drawing part (which I kinda did)! I REALLY don't know that I am cut out for journaling, with words anyway. Well, here's my faux journal page (since I don't really have a journal).

omg.. Marsha!!!!!!!!!
I AM IN LOVE WITH THIS COLLAGE!! is it for sale??? I didn't see it at Etsy.. yet??
omg.. it's so me.
I love the stylized lettering, it's sooooo perfect and gorgeous.. YES really!

I can really relate to what you said about "self reflection" and "new directions"
the more I read, the more I think we are so much alike!
I admire your ability to articulate your feelings so well. My mind is constantly off in 10 different directions. I have a hard time focusing. I'm like a child in a toy store, wanting to play with everything all at once!

Have you ever had several art ideas and sat down to work on them, and then not be able to decide which to do first, and you end up doing nothing???
... ahhhhh life!
have a wonderful NEW YEAR!

You made my day, maybe my week or month, Mary Ellen! Thank you! Read your email that I'm about to send.

And, yes, I know exactly how you feel - I can't tear myself away from art, it is always, always on my mind and I can't wait to work and put everything else off and then when I try to work I feel so overwhelmed and unrealized (best word I can find right now) - kind of "failure to launch" so to speak.

Thanks again, really - means a whole heck of a lot!

Think it looks great! Art is about the journey into uncomfortable and unknown territory isn't it? Well, you're there! congrats!!

Hi Marsha! It's GORGEOUS!! You did an awesome job! I did one art journal-ish piece for an altered journal RR...I'm so anal that I used tissue paper and pencilled my letters onto that and then the erased/pencil cycle thing a few more times and when I had it good I used graphite paper to transfer the outlines of the words down onto the base and then drew them in with my pens. WAY more trouble then the naturally gifted art journalers take, I'm sure! :)
