Just can't pull myself away . . .

I really have to get ready for my trip, but just woke up this morning and HAD to make one more piece. It says something when I would rather stay home and make art than go on "vacation". I wanted to leave a little something 4th of July-ish, sort of.

Dreaming Mona

copyright by Marsha Jorgensen 6/29/09
This is a 5 x 7 collage using a Mona face from the public domain, a body from flickr's Okinawa Soba, legs and wings from the public domain and boots scanned from a magazine. The crown is from Becky Loyal's whymsicalmusings.etsy.com. The word dream is from flickr's Nancy Baumiller and the stars were purchased from a digital scrapbooking site. All of these pieces were printed in black and white, except the word dream, trimmed with scissors, hand-colored, and attached to a background made from layers from flickr's 'Playingwithbrushes', Joes Sistah, and anwphotography.

Also wanted to leave you a couple of free to use pictures. These are from the Library of Congress. Just left click to get the larger size and then download. Enjoy!

That is a great video!!! Now go, pack and enjoy your vacation. I love that your muse is holding you back a little to play rather do something "boring" like pack. But once you are on vacation? Bliss!!!

What a sweetheart! Here you are, on the eve of departure, thinking about all of us! Thanks for the great images, Marsha - speaking of which, this patriotic piece is adorable! I still marvel at the fact that you gather so many disparate pieces and always make the "Marsha Magic" happen!

Take tons of pictures and laugh until your sides hurt! Have fun! Hugs, Terri xoxo

Michael was a creative genius. I really think so. A sad soul out of touch with the real world but boy, could he rock!
Safe travels.

Hey Marsha! Have relaxing vacation! I was fan of MJ growing up in the 70s and 80s. He was a truely talented artist and I remember watching this video on MTV (back in the day when it was just videos!), I like it as much now as I did then!

I've never seen this video before...isn't it wonderful! Thanks so much for sharing. And girl I think you should have been a fashion designer...the outfits on your collage subjects are just uniquely gorgeous...

I love collage art and am liking this piece of your very much! Looks like Mona's finally liberated herself and spread her wings.
Very attractive color combinations too.
I had to chuckle at the listing of origin images, public domain etc. There was a whole lot of learning going on concerning copyright and intellectual property rights when I first started making and selling tiles... got tripped up more than once. But I did learn a lot about how to navigate the confusing course of public domain, and because of ever-changing law I'm always learning something new.
It's funny I discovered you today (through Silke), because I happen to be walking a dangerous route in today's post.
I'll be following, and I promise I won't steal anything fro
you ;).
