New piece and blog visits

Beauty Queen

copyright by Marsha Jorgensen 7/17/09
This is an 8 x 10 collage using a body from lisasalteredart.etys.com, a face from keeperofthenest.etsy.com, wings from iktupilli.etsy.com, and a crown from spiceitup.etsy.com. These pieces were reprinted, trimmed with scissors, and handcolored and arranged on a background made with a border from Anahata Katkin's Spare Parts and flickr's Joes Sistah which were both further altered digitally before printing.

Believe it or not, I am off to visit AND comment blogs! Finally have a good amount of time to get to it and enjoy it this evening, soak it all in. I've been peeking just not commenting until I was more caught up on everyone. Anyway, I'll be by soon! Have a GREAT weekend!

Update 7/17/09 11:30 p.m. - Okay folks. 6 hours later, I am only through 2/3 of my favorite blogs so I will have to finish tomorrow. You all are too interesting for quicky peeks and comments!

Ms.TumbleFish, my blog heaved a hearty sigh of welcome when it saw you tippy toeing amongst the posts!!! You are always a ray of sunshine and good cheer!!!! Thannnnnnnnnnk-you for the comments! I commented back but in case your fingers are tired from blog hopping I will repeat part of what I said there, here, (if that makes sense.)
"I had a fun moment today, I was standing in the Stampington Studios reception area flipping through their mega awesome magazine selection in the waiting area and saw your pieces in the Stampington Studio magazine! I shoved the magazine in my husband's face and went "LOOK! LOOK! We know her!!!!!" :)

I of course love the piece,It's awesome. You are so talented. You really have a style all your own. You have that thing that I want to get eventually, where people can immediately recognize your work without even seeing your name under it first. I really want that for myself too. I just love the look of your pieces and I love that they do not mimic anyone else's work. Your work always just jumps out at the viewer and it's like a visual mexican food platter. I say that because I associate your pieces with all kinds of wonderful colors and elements just like a mexican food platter has all kinds of different tastes and explosions in the mouth. Weird comparison I know but it is definitely a compliment. Just out of curiousity, how long does it take you to finish a piece like this recent one?

Glad to see you are back Marsha and by the looks of the art you are creating the break was good for you. I am loving all your new pieces. Hope your friend is doing better. I finally got my SOMERSET STUDIO July and August issue and was so thrilled to see your work there. Well deserved my friend. Hugs, Diane

Marsha so glad to see your posts in my email again:) They always bring a ray of sunshine in with them.

I love this piece especially the way the backgrond seems to bow it gives it a 3D effect. Leave it to you to make something so eye popping that you can almost see it in the room as you sit and type! TEE HEE

Hey Marsha!
Thanks for visiting faithfully as always xox
I'm glad my collage inspired you..(you were talking about the Burnt orange, browns, and Aqua one with the Stars right?.....You said "the one on the upper right hand corner"...?... on my screen that collage is on the left of the page.. maybe it shows differently on your screen? .. )
anyway... it's usually the other way around! It's usually YOU inspiring ME!
I would love to see your take on it!

I caught your blog. (before you deleted it)... I'm sorry there are people who just don't care, or respect other artists. They're just plain ignorant!...
I will stop.. because I know you try to be positive.. and I will too.
Your latest collages.. are .. just.. (what discriptive words haven't I used yet???).. they're Amaz-stun-beau-gorg-ular!! HA!!! YES!... THAT'S THE WORD I WAS LOOKING FOR! honestly.. they always blow me away!
I can't believe you haven't been doing collage your whole life!
have a good Sunday!

hey there! i was just catching up on your blog. i 'm sorry to read all about your copy cat, but so glad the issue was resolved. that's very unsettling, isn't it? it's such a touchy subject as you could be dealing with someone who is really hostile and denies it, which makes it worse. glad it got settled, that's whats most important. i like your story about dragging the typesetting trays about!
