New version of Ponder Hill . . .

This is the last and largest version of the Ponder Hill collages I've been working on the last few days. (you can read about them in the post below). This original is already on its way to a new home, but large size prints are available in my Etsy along with an original version of one of the smaller collages. This larger version has the full text and some houses added in the background.

Ponder Hill (large version)

This is an 8 x 10 collage using a face from kumareeboo.etsy.com, a body from lisasalteredart.etsy.com, shoes scanned from a magazine, wings from Landofenchantment.etsy.com, and crown and heart made from a 100 year old encyclopedia page. The background was made using three pieces, slightly altered digitally, purchased under a special licensing agreement with Lorie Davison at Studio Lorie at Scrapbookgraphics.com and a black and white border made from pieces from a collage sheet from Crowabout.etsy.com. The houses were constructed using pieces bought with a commercial license from Jen Ulasiewicz at Studio Jen at Scrapbookgraphics.com. The face, body, crown, wings, and heart were all hand colored. All pieces were hand trimmed after printing.

I am off to spend some time with company we have this weekend. Unfortunately we all are gathering for the Memorial service tomorrow for a very dear friend, one that has been a part of our family for many, many years.

Have you heard about our nearby fire? Living in SoCal, fires are not new to us. We've had to pack up ourselves once years ago, but we have a really large forest fire less than 10 miles from us (near La Canada in Angeles Forest). We are in no danger yet but the smoke coupled with the near 105 temps makes things pretty miserable here. Do the rain dance for us!

So sorry that you have lost a dear friend...but glad that you are gathering "wounded together" in memory.
Here's a beautiful song for you - I was listening to it as I read your blog, and thought of you and your family and friends as I listened.

The new version is so great - I love that we get to see the whole ponder neighborhood !
Big love, Miss Marsha.

I love the Ponder Hills, and I'm also doing the rain dance and sending sympathy your way for the loss of a friend. I've lost two in the past month, and I know the empty feeling. It's good to be with family at such times.

Hi Marsha..Just ordered one of your limited edition prints & I'm so stoked!!! I just had to have one of my own, next one will be an original! I know what you mean by the smoke during our fire season in so cal. We've been evacuated 3 times & I hate it, it's so frigtening. I live just below Lake Arrowhead & I can smell the smoke pretty well from the fire by your house. Stay safe & protect all that wonderful art!!! Talk soon....Susie

The 1st posted "Ponder" was super, but I ADORE this neighborhood! I'd love to live in "the Hills".

So sorry to hear about the loss of your friend. May your sadness be tempered with fond memories. I'm sending my heartfelt sympathy and a huge hug.

Will do the raindance and will say a couple of prayers too. Fire totally freaks me out. I think I was a Post Toastie in a past life. Take care of YOU, Marsha! Love & Hugs, Terri xoxo

Ponder Hills are very cool.

Sympathy on the loss of your friend - but I'm glad you can share the memories of them.

And bushfires - shudder - yep, rain dancing for me and for you, we're just coming off total fire bans and extreme fire danger and our fire season hasn't even officially started!

I do wish I could send some of the incredible amounts of rain we have been getting here, but will say a prayer, for rain and for your loss....so sorry.

Marsha - I' m so sorry to hear about your friend.

As for the fires, I do not miss them one little bit. Rick's family lived in La Canada, he grew up there, and has seen many near misses.

I will pack up some of our rain and send it your way. xoxo Pam

I'm so sorry for your loss Marsha and hope that gathering with friends and remembering will help heal your pain.

Will do the rain dance for you even though my dogs bark hysterically when I dance but for you I'll do it and wear my earplugs.

Hope all goes well.
Big hug to you.

I am sorry about your friend. My condolences to you and your friends.
I will do a double rain dance! My husband and I are very good at rain dncing, we even have drums and fancy schmancy Oscar Meyer weiner whistles. It will be a rain dance the likes of which this world has never seen. ;)
The fire thing sucks. We had them really close to us the last couple years and it sucks.
Hope it gets taken care of soon, smiles from me
