Random Pondering #1

Really. This is just a random wondering pondering moment. I will try to post these as they happen from time to time. I have no answers, just questions.

I was doing some research on books and artists and visual purpose tonight and all of a sudden I wondered if I'd be making art as I am right now if it weren't for the internet. I use the internet all day long . . . . for inspiration, knowledge, image collection, image "deposits", comradery, instant gratification of sharing a finished piece with an audience, instant gratification of seeing someone's most up to the minute recent work. I wonder if I would be making what I am and as much as I am if it were not for the internet. Hmmmm. I'm kinda scared to think on it too much.

I spend hours on the internet too looking for inspiration!I dont think that you are alone in his. Sometimes I look at others work and have self doubt about my stuff but I think that this will always be in an artists mind. Art is about developing and by opening your mind this can be done

I just think that it would be different. We would all be doing different work if we didn't have the internet. With my work, I have been able to look at things and materials and say, yes to this and no to that. Then ultimately, I still just let it all happen as it does. But I know that the internet has changed our art.

Sounds like a whole new study!

Thanks so much for your supportive comments. You are right, this is exciting! I'm so looking forward to using the internet in the way you've described here..I'm so amazed (and I must admit, suprised) at everyone's ability to leave the competitiveness so often associated with the artworld behind and just do what we are supposed to do: Support and help each other. It's amazing! Thanks so much for your kind words.

I thank the internet every day for the business I have. I would not be doing what I do without it. I started selling on eBay 10 years ago and have seen a LOT of changes in those short years but wow how exciting to see things evolve. I've also met such interesting people and learned SO MUCH!
Cheers, Shelagh

I have journeyed into the world of Mixed Media Art for nearly 2 years now - the internet opened up this fabulous opportunity to travel down a new road after a friend introduced me to art -
I love to see others' work for inspiration and to hear their feedback, I don't do negative criticism but do take on board constructive criticism - negativity caused me to question myself and to think about not bothering with art, but Thanks to encouragement my journey continues

My experience with the on-line art/blog community has enriched my life in many ways. It has given me a forum for my art and my ideas that I couldn't have anywhere else in the same way. I am thanksful for it everyday.

Thanks for the question period, Miss Marsha ! Food for thought is always a good thing !

i've never really thought about it til i read your "pondering". you are probably on to something tho because i find the art i do is mostly for online trading. i wonder what i would be doing with my art if i didn't trade it?
