We are throwing routine, tradition, and comfortable habit out the window and caution to the wind and going to Islands for dinner this Tuesday. Today is daughter's actual birthday but she had a soccer game tonight so Tuesday we are eating out and it's her choice. One never knows how much one might appreciate Tuesday tacos unless they avoid them now and then.
Started back to work today, sort of. Had lots of odds and ends to take care of after a long week last week and long weekend. Vacuum blew up today - that was exciting. Actually, it was a bit more like a fizzle than a blow up. It's all of the lbs. of Husky hair we've been vacuuming and the machine finally admitted defeat today. Is there anything more un-fun to buy than a vacuum? I do have to admit, though, it was kind of fun to vacuum with the new one. I hated to leave my bag vacuum to these new fangled bagless ones but it seems to work better than I expected. I just don't like seeing what I was living with before it got sucked up. Bags kept the yuck out of site as it was emptied. Okay, 'nough of that. I did finish one piece today - started it days ago.

This is a 5 x 7 collage using a face from flickr's Suzee Que, a body from keeperofthenest.etsy.com, wings and crown made from wings from greatmusings.com, and flippers scanned from an old catalog and altered. All of these pieces were reprinted, hand trimmed, and hand colored. The main background and gold border is from Itkupilli.etsy.com, and the checked border is form Crowabout.etsy.com. The rock wall and waves are from designer Nicole Young at Digital Scrapbook Place. The words were made from lots of digital scans of vintage ephemera and taken from something my husband has always said to me and the kids.
I have a doctor appointment tomorrow and then really plan to roll up the sleeves and dive back into art work and all that that entails - full swing and full speed this week.

Hi Marsha! Happy birthday to your little girl. :) I hope you guys have a good taco-less evening. I've been crazy busy, and missed several postings I'm assuming - the new piece is fabulous, and I love the words. I could make a very long list of the things I'm afraid of. It would make an interesting collage! xoxoxo Pam
Love the piece. Especially the lettering which is just a delight to the eyes.

Enjoy the birthday!
Happy Birthday to your daughter and enjoy the Islands, Man !
New vaccuum has to be a good thing, even if you do witness the yuck a little more without the bag. As pet owners, we sure do give those machines a work out !
Hope everything goes well at the docs. Keeping you in good thought mode !
Hugs, Marsha !
where can i get body like that on your art piece??!!! you always have such great people in your artwork. they make me smile. so glad your sweet 16 went off without a hitch. nice to see you getting back into the artwork! i always love seeing your work.
Hope you enjoyed your dinner out. Love the new collage, was reading another post today about facing fears-I guess that is my lesson for the day!
I'm glad you're back to blogging...I missed you!
She is beautiful and so so on the mark as always - love the wording as much as the art work.
Ms. TumbleFish, exploding vacuums sounds quite exciting! :) When we got a new bagless vac a few years back I was beyond shocked to see the difference a new vac could make on the carpets. I do believe I took a photo of what I sucked up, cause...you know...something to leave the nephew and nieces some day. Photos of Aunt Tracey's carpet dirt from one suck around. :D
Awesome artwork as always, it's so much fun to come to your blog and get a little taste of everything, daily life, food and art! Awwwwesome!
I love the quote, and of course I love everything else....I ALWAYS do!!!
