I would like a do over, please. Let's just start the year over.

It's been a long 7 days - that's how long its been since I made something. That's how long since things felt normal. I've been staring at the pieces of this collage for several days, adding more, taking away, adding different, cutting different, adding more, adding too much, taking away, etc. Finally got it finished this morning amidst canceling service to my daughter's phone which was stolen during class this morning while it was in her backpack hanging on her chair. Just par for the course this week, this YEAR!

Night . . .

copyright by Marsha Jorgensen 1/13/09
5 x 7 collage using a vintage black and white photo and moon image, reprinted, and hand-colored, trimmed and arranged with wings used under agreement with Butterfly Utopia, beams made from 1906 railroad schedule book, owl and egg from paperstreet.etsy.com, and punched stars on an end cover from an obsolete text book.

So, to recap the 7 days' stresses, one of my best friends got fired due on Tuesday to suspicious circumstances by a new administration which compelled me to open my big mouth and complain about how things were not being run properly in my opinion which opened Pandora's box there and in my email for days. We found lice on my daughter's head (that was the secret) on Wednesday which, if you've ever experienced it you know, caused us to have to launder everything, EVERYTHING - even the clean clothes, vacuum floors, furniture, and cars, then spray floors, furniture, and cars repeatedly and spend endless hours nit combing her hair several nights in a row. (The lice remain a mystery - none of us have it, none of her friends have it, all we can figure out is that she got it from one of the 3 movie theaters she visited the week before that.) I think we're over that at least and the house is clean and sanitized like never before. A three day soccer tournament started Thursday. And, the anticipation and anxiety began to build over today's Actors' Strike meeting and my Dad's doctor appointment tomorrow - both of which will reveal the fate of my next few months. Then, of course, the cell phone stolen today. At least we had insurance on it. Bleck! Can we start the year over? I would like a do over.

It's a little busy for me, but thank you! If I did it over too, I'd take the egg out of the bottom - just too much goin' on for me. Oh well.

Oh Ms. Tumble Fish, I think you deserve a do-over, but not on the art pieces you've made this year cause they fricking rock.
If the Universe would ever stand still long enough for me to lay the smack down on it ala the Rock I would throw in an extra half nelson** just for you and the no-good stressy week y'all have experienced. Then I'd invite the universe in for a cup of tea and some sort of cookie, maybe sugar...maybe chocolate chip unless the Universe looks like a gingersnap sort of omnipotence, and then I'd explain how things ought to be going.
Great big positive smiles and best wishes for you and your daughter and all.

**I must add a disclaimer. I am not a wrestling fan, don't watch it, don't practice it unless I am fighting evil. I just like to salt and pepper my words with a few terms I have had leak into my brains through television osmosis.

Thank you Tace - I know you would take down the big bad stress God or Muse or Demon - whatever it is.

When I read your comment my eyes were drawn up to the last thing I wrote in my last comment "just too much goin' on for me" talking about my art piece but it hit me, maybe that is why it turned out the way it did - too much goin' on in my real life and art reflects life. I like quiet and simple and happy. You help make it that way for me all the time, simple and happy, though I doubt you are quiet (no offense). That's okay, people can be loud just not things.

Nah...never "too" much going on! I think your piece is perfect. I really love it. My thoughts are with you -- I know everything will work out.

Love your newest piece, and if this art is what comes from angst... Glad the "infestation" is at bay, sorry about the missing phone caper (isn't it the pits?!) and the aftermath that follows something like that... Hope your time turns to more pleasant things in the coming days! Your work is always fun and compelling at the same time.... Lice or not ;-)

Absolutely a BIG wow and a "Holy Cow" too! You go, girl! Things may be a bit rocky on the homefront; but this piece is just amazing. Talk about "channeling" . . . My thoughts have been with you all day. Am sending a ton of "good vibes" your way.

I just heard the strike may go on, I am so sorry. I have my fingers crossed that you will get much better news about your Father and his surgery. Pulling for you!
